             Karwar is the administrative headquarters of Uttara Kannada district in Karnataka India. It is a seaside town situated on the banks of the Kali river which is on the west coast of the Indian peninsula. The town lies about 15 kilometers south of the Karnataka - Goa border and 520 km north-west of Bangalore. The town is sandwiched between the sea on one side and the Western Ghats on the other. It is rich in flora and fauna.
             Konkani is spoken as a local language in Karwar. Kannada, being the state language is also widely spoken. Marathi is widely understood in Karwar due to the prevalence of Marathi literature and arts in the area. Hindi, Urdu and English are also used in social communication.

1. Birth & Death Record Computerization: Register of birth and death record has been computerized on 07-11-2007. From 1990 onwards all the birth and death entries are available online. Public can view the online records through official website http://www.karwarcity.gov.in/egbnd/SearchReports.do

2. Public Grievance Redressal Cell (HelpLine): CMC Karwar has introduced PGR cell for the effective redressal of public complaints. NGO has been appointed to maintain the cell and is working 24x7. 3. ULB website : Information related to CMC Karwar is available in official website www.http://karwarcity.gov.in

4. Property Tax Payment Computerization: CMC has introduced “Aasti” a property tax payment application. As per 2005-06 survey all 31 wards properties have been registered online. Public can view their property details available online at website http://www.karwarcity.gov.in/ptisnn/public/citizenIndex.jsp and pay the tax at CMC Karwar.
